Teba Art Award 2012
The Teba Art Award 2012 goes to the Hilden-born photo designer Alexander Kirberg. “With his very individual works, the artist creates a connection between business and art” is how the jury explains their decision. Source: Press report from Winkler Medien Verlag, Munich December 21, 2011
The award ceremony took place on January 12, 2012 at Heimtextil in Frankfurt (Stand B96, Hall 5.1). The managing director Frank Tovornik presented the Teba Art Award 2012 to the winner Alexander Kirberg, who was at the fair from January 11th to the 14th. A total of 1,600 trade fair gifts were hand-signed and given away to customers by January 14, 2012. 150 limited edition sculptures by Alexander Kirberg were raffled off.
Teba has been combining modern window decorations and sun protection products with the characteristics of shape, color and individuality for over 70 years. The motto “Welcome Sun” refers to the design use of light in the room. Light is colored, directed and reflected by the products; shadows of variable intensity are created.
The artistic work of graduate photo designer Alexander Kirberg takes up exactly this effect: Alexander Kirberg processed two photographs of Duisburg – from the heart of the Ruhr area and Teba’s home – using paper mixed techniques, then digitized them and printed them on acrylic glass.
For the Art Award 2012, the two acrylic glass surfaces created were joined together in the shape of a “+” to form a three-dimensional sculpture “TRANSFER+”. Alexander Kirberg developed this arrangement for the first time, incorporating our corporate identity. Depending on the incidence and intensity of the light, the individual image surfaces are illuminated differently, cast shadows and there is an overlapping of colors and shapes.
